Topaz Mel is the biggest mill complex in Bulgaria and one of the most modern ones in Europe. It spreads on an area of 83 000 sq.m. in the land of Tserkovski village, Karnobat Municipality. The region has century-old traditions in grain production, milling and bread-making and is known as South Bulgaria's "granary". Historical chronicles dating back to the Middle Ages testify that the flours of Karnobat Mills have been traded all over the country and were famous for their high quality. The glory of the old craftsmen – millers spread in all parts of Bulgaria. Today Topaz Mel combines rich historical heritage with the highest production technologies and the experience of the best qualified specialists. The Mill complex is the largest producer of quality wheat in the country. The company cultivates 20 000 ha, 8 000 ha of which are own agricultural land and 12 000 acres leased. Terrains are located in the Karnobat region and planted with the best Bulgarian common wheat varieties - "Albena", "Milena", "Apogey", "Laska", "Enola", "Iglika and “Iveta”. All of them have excellent qualities. To ensure the production of special flours during 2008, "Topaz Mel" Ltd. separated 30 dka where in 2008 were sown Italian hard wheat varieties. The trend in the coming years is towards expanding the proportion of areas with hard wheat, having in mind the growing demand for special flours and mixes. The yield of own production allows tracking the quantities of the incoming raw materials and maintaining the high quality of the final product. During the years the flours of ''Topaz Mel Ltd. are preferred by most major bread and confection producers in Bulgaria.
